About ¶
Goal
The primary mission of the Alpine Forest Genomics Network (AForGeN) is to facilitate information exchange and collaboration among researchers interested in using genomic approaches for studying alpine forest ecosystems, with special attention to the effects of changing climate.
Guiding Principles
- EMPOWER
Develop resources for the entire genetics and genomics field that can be used as the basis for future forest genetics. Provide a study foundation for modern scientific exploration of coniferous forest ecosystems. - ADAPT
Keep pace with changing biotechnologies and employ these methods to forest genetics. - COMPARE
Utilize comparative genomics to contextualize and annotate conifer genomes. Apply the power of comparative genomics to new projects in forest genetics. - SHARE
Openly publish and share any data that results from group efforts. Assist in collaborations that result from this data.
