AForGeN Meeting 2019

Mont Ventoux, France

Despite rain and fog, food poisoning, lost luggage and a night sleeping in the car for some, the AForGeN 2019 meeting in Ventoux was a success. These first discouraging steps could have made less dedicated scientists give it up and go back home. But not AForGeN people!

And they were right! The weather turned brilliant the next days. The excursion was an opportunity to experience the ecological challenges faced by mountain forest trees at the limit of their distribution range, under climate change. Scientific discussions, fueled by mountain-type food and logging, included exciting talks about adaptation, genetic monitoring and genomic resources. They provided a clear avenue for the group for the years to come.
