AForGeN Meeting 2026 ¶

The AForGeN meeting 2026 will be jointly organized by the University of Freiburg (Katrin Heer & Jill Sekely) and the Forest Research Institute FVA (Charalambos Neophytou).

Registration

Please register until April 30th, at the latest. We need this information for planning the program, food etc.

You can indicate if you want to give a talk. We currently assume that talks will be 15 min + 5 min for discussion, but we might adjust this depending on the number of submissions. For the program, we would just need to know the title, which you can submit online.

Please also indicate your dietary preferences and if you have preferences for room sharing. Rooms will be shared among max. 4 persons (depending on how many will register).

Accomodation

We will convene at the "Sternwarte" close to Todtmoos. Rooms will be shared among up to four people, each room has an individual bathroom. Beds are of best Italian quality and very comfortable. We will get simple but solid food, vegetarian/vegan options will be provided.

Program

The program will be similar to what we did during the last meetings: One full day of scientific talks, one day for hiking (we might plan that flexibly depending on weather conditions) and the last half day for AForGeN topics. So, please plan your arrival for dinner on the first day (June 8th), departure after lunch on Thursday, June 11th. We will ask you for abstracts for the scientific program in time before the meeting.

Costs

The total costs (including 3 nights stay, food for all days except during the hike) will be around 380€.

How to get there

For those coming with public transport: Potentially, you can get there with buses either from Seebrugg (via Freiburg) or Bad Säckingen (from the South). We have organized two small busses for the time of the conference, and if you manage to arrive on Monday until 16:00 h in Freiburg, we can take you along to Todtmoos, and bring you back to Freiburg on Thursday at around 14:30 h. If you need to travel at other times, we might have to arrange a pickup from Aha or Schluchsee which are the closest train stations
